Luanda, May 22, 2026 (Lusa) – Portugal consolidated its position in 2025 as Angola's second-largest supplier, accounting for a 9.8% share of its imports and registering 20.72% growth compared to 2024, according to Angola's National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Angola's imports from Portugal totalled 1.5 trillion kwanzas (about €1.415 billion), up from 1.2 trillion kwanzas (€1.172 billion) in 2024, according to the 2025 International Trade Statistics Yearbook.
Portugal ranks behind China, which continues to dominate Angola's imports with a 20.41% share. Chinese imports grew 56.54% year-on-year to 3.1 trillion kwanzas (€2.946 billion).
The INE document records variations among other suppliers. Togo registered the highest growth among all partners, at 504.24%, rising from 69.388 billion kwanzas (€65 million) in 2024 to 419.270 billion kwanzas (€396 million) in 2025, making it Angola's 12th-largest supplier. Argentina recorded significant growth of 238.18%, increasing from 153.496 billion kwanzas (€145 million) to 519.087 billion kwanzas (€490 million).
Overall, Angolan imports grew 16.93% in 2025 to 15.3 trillion kwanzas (€14.431 billion). Machinery and appliances (25.56%), fuels (16.40%), base metals (10.79%), food products (9.18%), and vehicles (8.90%) stood out among the main product groups.
