ATA - Albania’s seafood exports increase by 55%

TIRANA,Sept22/ATA/–Albania’s exports of fish, seafood and marine products increased by 55 percent in the first six months of 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Niko Peleshi visited the fish processing plant “Mare Adriatik” in Bushat, Shkodra region, a big business that employs over 500 people, working in two packing and production lines.

Agriculture and Rural Development Minister said in his remarks that fish and seafood processing industry is a leading sector in the perspective of exports to European Union countries and beyond. The fish processing industry meets European standards.

“Fish exports grew by 55% in first six months. Albanian fish and seafood products are exported to countries with highest European standards,” Peleshi said.

The Agriculture Minister’s visit to “Mare Adriatik” plant comes after the positive assessment Albania earned following the audit by the European Union’s food safety structures.
