Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market green with power utility REN rising 0.44%

Lisbon, May.3,2024(Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher today, with REN shares rising 0.44% to €2.29 and CTT shares falling 1.64% to €4.49.
At around 09:20 in Lisbon, the PSI had climbed 0.14% to 6,674.76 points, with six shares rising, eight falling and two remaining unchanged (Mota-Engil at €4.09 and Greenvolt at €8.31).
On Thursday, CTT announced that profits fell by 54% year-on-year in the first quarter, to €7.4 million, with public debt subscriptions falling from €7.5 billion to €294.8 million.
In the note, published by the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), the company indicated that in the first three months of this year, it recorded "a consolidated net profit attributable to equity holders of the CTT group of €7.4 million, €8.7 million below that obtained" in the first quarter of last year.
"This unfavourable performance, when compared to the same period last year, is mostly due to the behaviour of public debt securities," he pointed out.
REN shares were followed by EDP, Altri and EDP Renováveis, which rose 0.39% to €3.65, 0.29% to €5.16 and 0.23% to €13.25.
Jerónimo Martins and Semapa shares rose 0.21% to €19.40 and 0.13% to €15.82.
In the opposite direction, after CTT, the shares that fell the most were those of Navigator, Galp and Corticeira Amorim, which recorded losses of 0.43% to €4.19, 0.38% to €19.63 and 0.31% to €9.51.
The other four PSI shares that fell in price, NOS, Ibersol, BCP and Sonae, fell between 0.31% and 0.11%.
The main European stock markets were up today, pending US non-farm employment data, which was particularly relevant after the Fed decided on Wednesday to maintain interest rates.

After that, the stock market on Wall Street closed in the green on Thursday.
On the debt market, the interest rate on the ten-year German bond considered the safest, fell to 2.534%.
A barrel of Brent oil for July delivery opened higher today, at $84.04 on London's Intercontinental Exchange Futures (ICE), compared to $83.67 on Wednesday.
On the foreign exchange market, the euro opened stronger on the Frankfurt exchange, at $1.0728, compared to $1.0717 in the previous session.
