NNA - Japan Provides Waste Collection Trucks to Municipalities in Baalbek

NNA - The Embassy of Japan funds three solid waste collection trucks for the municipalities in the Caza of Baalbek, in order to improve the living conditions of the residents.

On the occasion of the project completion, on May 14 2018, H.E. Mr. Matahiro Yamaguchi, Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon, attended the inauguration ceremony organized by the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST). The ceremony was also attended by the mayors of the district of Baalbek. Through the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Program (GGP), LOST will be able to provide a better living environment to at least 45,000 residents of Deir Al Ahmar, Bouday, and Nabi Othman municipalities that suffer from pollution and severe waste management problems.

During the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Yamaguchi praised LOST’s efforts in implementing the project and highlighted Japan’s strong commitments to assist the local communities. Meanwhile, Dr. Rami Lakkis, Director of LOST, expressed his deep appreciation for the Japanese support to people in Lebanon over the years. -- Press release
