Lusa - Business News - Sao Tome: GDP expected to grow 5.5% this year, 5.8% in 2019




Abidjan, Jan. 17 (Lusa) – Sao Tome and Principe’s economy is expected to grow by 5.5% this year and 5.8% next year because of infrastructure investments the African Development Bank said on Wednesday.
The economy is estimated to have grown 5.2% in 2017, driven by services and building works and the short-term economic outlook is positive the bank said.
The bank wrote, in a report released today in Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s economic capital, that Sao Tome and Príncipe "registered growth of over 4% a year between 2010 and 2015, mainly as a result of direct foreign investment in farming and construction.
