MAP - Morocco Takes Part in Madrid’s International Tourism Trade Fair

Rabat - 17 January 2018 – (MAP)- Morocco takes part in Madrid’s International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), which kicked off on Wednesday, the Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) said.
The Moroccan pavilion at this fair, which will be set up by ONMT over an area of 312 m2, will promote Morocco’s tourism assets and will house 25 exhibitors, the source pointed out in a release.
Visitors will hence have the opportunity to discover Moroccan gastronomy and handicrafts, it added.
Morocco is the first non-European destination for Spanish tourists, the source said, noting that the number of Spanish tourists who visited Morocco increased from 2,005,705 at the end of November 2016 to 2,159,927 during the same period in 2017 (+ 8%).
Marrakesh remains the favourite destination for Spanish tourists, followed by Tangier, Casablanca and Fez.
FITUR, which will run through Jan. 21, is a global meeting point for tourism professionals and a leading trade fair for Ibero American markets.
In 2017, FITUR has beaten the participation record with 9,893 exhibiting companies from 165 countries/regions, 135,858 trade participants and 107,213 people from the general public.
