MAP - Morocco, Rwanda Ink Several Cooperation Agreements

Rabat -19 March 2019-MAP-Several cooperation agreements were signed, Tuesday in Rabat, between Morocco and Rwanda, as part of the first session of the High Joint Committee between the two countries.

These agreements were initialled by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and his Rwandan counterpart, Richard Sezibera, who chaired the first session of the Morocco-Rwanda High Joint Committee.

The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in trade and an industrial Protocol of Agreement.

The MoU is aimed at increasing trade between the two countries, while the industrial Protocol of Agreement is intended to adopt a mutually beneficial approach for the development of the economic partnership and the promotion of private initiatives and sustainable development.

It also aims to strengthen existing partnerships, expand them and build new partnerships, as well as to foster the exchange of experience and expertise in the area of industrial policy.

The two countries have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the area of environment and sustainable development, which aims to promote bilateral cooperation in the areas of environment and the rational management of natural resources, in addition to a framework agreement in the field of energy with a view to setting up a framework for cooperation in this sector.

Regarding mining, geology and hydrocarbons, the two countries have signed a framework agreement to establish a framework for cooperation in these areas.

Morocco and Rwanda have also inked an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and another one on judicial extradition.

The first agreement aims to develop a framework for judicial cooperation between the two countries in the field of criminal law, while the second one is intended to develop a framework for cooperation in the area of judicial extradition.

A Memorandum of Understanding has also been signed between the two parties in the field of tourism with a view to developing cooperation between the various institutions in charge of promoting this sector.

Morocco and Rwanda also signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the training of young diplomats and developing the exchange of information related to diplomacy and international relations.

In the fields of land use planning, urban planning, housing and city policy, a Protocol of Agreement was initialled by the two parties on the exchange of expertise and good practice in the housing and urban development sectors.

The two countries also signed an agreement aimed at establishing a framework for cooperation in the field of education through scholarships granted by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation.

A framework convention on cooperation in vocational training has also been signed by the two countries with the aim of establishing a framework for cooperation and partnership in the field of technical education and vocational training.
