Lusa - Business News - Angola: Country owes public water company EPAL 36 billion kwanzas

Luanda, Mar. 18 (Lusa) – Angola owes around 36 billion kwanzas (€100.2 million) to the country's public water company EPAL, over half of its total debt, the company's management said on Monday.
Ângelo Filipe, EPAL's commercial director, said the company's accumulated debt reached €60 billion kwanzas (around €167 million) and from this amount, 36 billion kwanzas are "from the state's entities."
There is a "serious problem" the company has to solve, Filipe told Angola's public broadcaster.
He estimated that the Angolan capital, which has over 7 million inhabitants, still has a deficit of around 350,000 cubic metres of water.
The company's main concern, he said, was resolving that deficit.
Despite the company's efforts to supply water in Luanda, several areas in the Angolan capital still don't have access to a public water network and others have not seen their systems rehabilitated.
